It really depends what you want...

What are you trying to achieve? A towing monster? or just a little bit more power?

Well a centrifugal kit could be more what you are interested in. (Procharger, Vortech etc.)

I was at a shop the other day that sells Prochargers, what a great setup!!! The owner showed me a printout from a run on the chassis dyno. The engine is a 4.6 DOHC in a Mustang Cobra, made 527 horse at the rear wheels!!! I would imagine the SOHC engine would be down 100 horse or so from that. check it out, www.ProCharger.com

And remember that setup is designed for rediculous hp (and would require a LOT more than just a supercharger)

Also, the truck Prochargers are P1-SC.

Most of the Prochargers for Mustangs are P1-SC-1 or P1-SC-2 blowers that have a different impeller more suited for the RPM range of a sports car.

I've got a Procharged Expedition. It's fantastic, if you go this route you won't be disappointed. That is, unless you only want a "little more power"...because you'll be getting a lot more.

Good to hear that!!!! Went out to my favorite yard yesterday, got a 5.4 Triton to eventually go in the pickup and an aluminum 4.6 DOHC to be built for the Ranchero. Both will be running Pro Charges, the 4.6 will get the F-1 and the 5.4 will get the P-1.

What kind of mileage are you getting with the Expedition and the blower? Have you had it on a chassis dyno to see what the power is?

I get 10 - 12mpg. I've gotten as much as 14mpg - about what I was getting before the blower - by babying it to see what I could eek out.

But really, I didn't buy it to baby it. So mpg definitely suffers, as it takes fuel to make enough power to propel a 3-ton truck!

I've got a 97 with crappy non-PI heads. I make 318 hp, 410 lb-ft or torque...with a very flat torque curve. This is at 10.5 psi.

I'm down about 30 - 40 hp compared to newer trucks with PI heads.

When it's time to rebuild, I'd like to run a forged short block with a D1 blower. Those F1s are monsters!
