I believe you. I also believe the transmission is doing exactly what it is commanded to do, which is shift late until the Powerstroke has warmed up slightly. It shifts 1-2 and 2-3 at about 3k RPM, just about long enough to reach the end of my street.

It has always done it. There could be something wrong. I sure hope not.

computer controling

every manufacturer want the least amount of warranty work.so now with sensors and computer controlled components they can stop a brain dead person from firing up a truck ,hooked to 14,000 lb load 10 degree weather and flooring it up a hill stone cold.

I have a 2007 F350 and it was doing the same thing. I thought this was normal till I took it to the local Ford house and had them check the software on the truck and found out it needed to be flashed. Cost $85.00 and the truck run a lot better all around. Have found out since then that the shifting problem first thing has gone away. Hope this may help you and fixes your problem also.
