1951 F2 Shifting problem
I am working on a 1951 f2 flathead v8 4 speed spur transmission. The Truck probably hasn't been running for nearly 20 years. When I shift gears the gears clash and even when I try double clutching it will not let the gears mesh without pressure on the gear shift to engage. The clutch seems fine... Has good travel. Any ideas? Thanks!

Do you have enough/correct gear lube? Very easy thing to overlook. Did you actually inspect the clutch disc? If it's worn you could still have a decent pedal but it might be adjusted all the way out. Are you shifting too fast? I know mine needs to be shifted slowly. Whine the engine but not too much, then push the clutch in and give it some time to match up then, leave out the clutch, push it in again and shift up. You can't power shift these old beasts like the new ones.
