The OEM part is the only one that works automatically - no getting out of the truck to lock and unlock them. If you want a good manual aftermarket set, Warn Premiums are top notch.
I have one that I know is good and at least 2 that are not. I could not agree with Ponyboy more. I put Warn premiums on and like Gump said "one less thing". I am not cursing EOF or anyhting it is just that the Warns were less expensive than the Fords and I know when the Warns are "locked in".

Standing offer - I'll pay for shipping for any auto-hubs that are 'not good'.
I love my auto-hubs. At 330k miles, they work just fine - and in the over 200k I've had this truck, the couple times they didn't lock (get this) I got out and locked'em like the guys with 'manual' hubs do......... I use 4wd all the time, but seldom for more than a few feet at a time. I love being able to unlock the hubs from the cab!!
Btw, manual hubs allow you to shift into 4wd 'on the fly' once they are locked!
I agree, if you keep the OEM's healthy, they should be fine for many miles. The PO of my truck used vise grips on one of my hubs to turn the dial and punched a hole in it. I had nothing but trouble with that hub so a replacement was needed. The cost of one OEM was the same as the pair of Warn's so I went that route.
Has anyone used Sil-Glyed lubricating compound from napa to lube the inner locking hub. Guzzle's it says to use axle grease,Sil-Glyed is for brake parts but I think it would work don't you guys think ?
