In a word, NO. The oil pressure will gradually get a little lower and I would consider 70 psi at the upper range of what I would like to see. What weight is the oil you are using now? When changing to your regular oil I would try a light weight oil in the 5-20w or 5-30w range and keep an eye on the pressure from there on until I was comfortable. Years ago 50w to 70w oil was accepable in race engines and we have since learned that oil of that weight was not really needed, in most cases.
I'm using 10w-30w, my experiences with older motors like this is usually you see around 40 psi at Idle , since I don't have a manual what should the fast idle be set at & then low idle if anyone has that info, I'm running a Mallory Ignition no vacuum advance on it & I set the timing for now at 10 deg BTDC
Well I have a problem, seems like when the temp hits 180 deg the motor shuts down as if the key was turned off, wait about a hr or so and it starts back up, also I'm pulling 90 psi at 2000 rpm but the hotter it gets the pressure drops, just before shutting down the oil psi is about 78 psi,, I'm thinking coil it's a mallory & I have it mounted on the front of the eng. What are your thoughts?

Sounds wierd but put it on the fender well and see if that changes anything. I doubt it however.
I bought a car with most everything (including coil) replaced due to a fire under the hood. It did the same, ran until it got warm, then wouldn't run until it cooled off. I replaced the coil with one I had, drove it until we sold it.
I had the great Idea of putting a extra fuel filter between the tank selector valve & the fuel pump then a old timer here at work informed me those canister filters are not designed to be sucked thru I removed it & no problems so far
Been gone awhile but the last 2 weeks I pulled the motor & replaced the head gaskets with some Felpro permatorque gaskets, found the intake manifold had a leak on the back rail I also replaced the mallory distributor with a Pertronix Dist & coil, then I took off the Edelbrock 750 & now I'm trying the Holley 570, put it back in & still had a Idling problem, discovered I had to much return spring on the carb it was actually bending the throttle shaft took the pressure off & idils great now, I have a little playing on the jets but I think I'm real close to having it dialed in, also put in dual electric fans at 2750 cfms cooling

Yup, 6 months is a while alright. It sounds like you've got it right this time, good for you and that's a great Christmas present you gave yourself.
Oh well....maybe the 10 thou will give you a little Hp boost......
Ditto, thar "scotchbrite weilding kid" could be a blessing in disguise, more'n likely the decking will zero the pistons (or closer anyway) to the deck, most replacement pistons fall short of a block's deck anyway.
Well Had a persistent oil leak in the rear, pulled the pan & discovered that the 2 pins that are supposed to be pressed in the side seals of the rear main cap were left out, new seals installed, pan going back on this morning
