The school should have a machinest's straight edge and feeler gages to check the block and as stated above it is good within those specs for a non race engine.

If the shop teacher is any good at all you are going to be a very happy FordDriver.
Good luck with it and keep us informed.

You could pick up a few extra ponies by installing a fan clutch or an electric fan on that thing.

Yea I've been kicking around the thought of a electric fan, & I know it's not original but I think the yellow looks good against the blue

I like the yellow tips, nice little reminder to catch your attention every time you bend over the front of it that there's a blender right below you Solid black blends in so well with pavement in low light, I catch myself forgetting all the time. Luckily no painful reminders yet, knock on wood

I did electric fans on my 2000 Navigator and it looks a lot cleaner, makes less noise, has less stress on the water pump and gives some more horses to drive the truck. I used a set of fans from a V8 Continental that is 2 speed and has the factory guards built in. Total cost with the fan controller from Advance A.P. about $80.00 and 1 hour to install. It looks a lot better in my opinion than the add on fans offered for a lot more. Send me your email and I'll send some pics.

Fired it off this morning little squirt of fuel in the carb wife turned the key & bang it was running,, at idle was pulling 80 psi oil pressure after 30 minute cam break in dropped to 70psi, I am using Royal Purple break in oil, should I be concerned about this high oil pressure?

The 80 psi at cold tells me that's where the pump bypasses, and that's good.

I don't think you can tell about the 70 psi at idle yet. Even though you ran it 30 minutes, the oil may not have heated up enough to thin out and cause the pressure to drop to an expected level as there was no load on the engine.

I'd say, go out and drive 5 to 10 miles and see that the hot idle oil pressure is.
Well,..er...make sure there are no weird noises first. Just in case something is plugged up. i.e. valves clatter as no oil to heads
