2000 superduty factory alarm

Have taken positive battery cable off to many times and has engaged the factory alarm system(horn). Have tried cycling the key 3 times, locking the drivers door with key and opening. Nothing works. Ford want me to tow it into shop to put on the computer. I dont want to pay for all that. Anyone have a fix.....

Thank You

Did you try hitting the panic button on the key fob? I had a '00 Excursion with a factory alarm and that's what I did when that happened.

My alarm has a button on it. The alarm is a dealer installed "factory" option. You have to turn the key on and push the button to disarm it. The button is usually located high on the driver's kick panel in the foot well or on the dash bracket (the lower bracket along the lower edge of the dash panel) under the steering wheel.

Absolutely correct, I forgot about that. My button was located along the lower bracket on the lower edge of the dash panel to the left of my steering column.

ok, I traced the the alarm to a black box it is called marksman. There is no button to push........it has 4 or 5 toggle switches. One is turned on.......... Dont know what to do now........the rest of the wires seem to be running into the main harness..............

Please help.......... Dont want to spend money on tow and ford to work on it.

Thanks

When u say toggle switches, are u referring to the dip switches built into that box? Those are for setting individual settings if you are. There should be a wire coming off of that is either a button or momentary toggle. Look for a model # on the box and see if you can find the manual on google.

That is not a factory alarm. In fact, there was no factory alarm option available until possibly 2008 or later. Some dealers installed Ford branded aftermarket alarms, but what you have doesn't even sound like that.

It appears from a google search that Marksman alarms are made by a company called Magnadyne. They have owner's manuals on their web site. But you'll need to see if you can figure out which model you have.

Getting back with everyone who has helped me........ What I ended up doing is unhooking the brain of the alarm and everything works!!!!!!! I threw the brain in the glove box and everything is working fine. Thanks for all the input, it saved me 200.00.
