EBPV ?

So today i had some free time and had never dont the EBP tube and sensor clean. So i took the Tube off and at on of the bends it had a crack as i was cleaning it it got worse. The crack was 2/3 of the wat arround the tube. I was ablr to tie wire the tube back tight then jb welded it to seal the crack for now since i had no brazing rods. The tube was really packed and and the sensor aswell.
After reinstalling it seemes to have more pep. I will get a new tube on order and probly sensor too. But the question i have is what is the big effect if this system is not in good working order ex. like the crack in the pipe or it beeing clogged with soot. What effect will this have?

Having a bad tube or sensor can have ill effects on MPG and power. I have seen a few times where the sensor goes bad and messes up the 5 volt signal and causes a no start. Since the PCM monitors what is going on there, if you have a clogged sensor the PCM may make changes to correct it. Obviously you have the right EBP so it is making changes that it shouldn't.

EBP is used by the PCM to determine engine load and if the Sensor is not sending an accurate reading fueling and SOI (start of injection) will not be optimal. This can and will affect MPG and power. This is why I don't think those who put in a fooler or open the Sensor to the atmoshere and cap off the EBP tube fitting at the exhaust manifold are doing the right thing. The best thing to do is to keep the EBP Sensor functioning properly. After cleaning the tube I replaced the sensor and keep the old one as a spare.

Didn't mean to sound preachy, nor directed just to you.

I live at 5,000 ft and in a day may travel between 1500 and 7000 ft elevations
and want all the sensors working correctly for optimal performance.

Looks like it is one of the sensors that is used on multiple engines. This is pretty common with our trucks.

Here is a capture of the search. It shows both 6.0 and 7.3 trucks for the same P/N.

As always verify what you order with them by using your VIN number to ensure you get the right parts.

Something else to think about when using parts sites is they are not 100% accurate. I know I talked with Ed at SOTM 2010 and he mentioned that, so always provide your VIN when ordering.
