My buddy just picked up a 2004 f150 fx4 5.4l. The only issue we are having is a shudder from what i think is the rear end upon turning either direction from a dead stop. With the wheel point straight it is smooth. Rolling while turning it is smooth also.
What could this be?
Your limited slip clutches are sticking. Put 2 bottles of ford friction modified in the rear end and drive around in figure 8s for a few minutes. If that don't fix it you will need new clutches.
Hi Guys, I added (1) 4oz bottle of motorcraft brand modifier to the differential and it has cleared up about 80% of the problem, should I add another 4oz bottle?

Yes because when changing the fluid it calls for 8oz. I know you didn't change the fluid but you have lost the friction modifier and there fore should replace the total amount.
Thanks Coskid..I will add another 4 oz bottle and if that fails I will drain and refill the differential with 75w140 instead of the provided 75w90.. I have not messed with the differential fluid yet as I have only added 4oz of modifier only. Thanks again
I've had to do it twice.
I have about 100,000 miles on my truck.
I just change the oil and put the additive in it.
I didn't think to just add it to what's there.
I figure what's in there has got to be pretty dirty.

I would've changed the differential fluids but I only have 33K on the vehicle and probably will change the fluid if after adding another bottle it doesn't completely fix the shudder 100%. thanks for the advise though everyone!
