so after pulling my truck back out of the area I had it stored I finally have the time to work on it. it is a 1990 f150 302/E4OD.. well the E4OD is slipping and i'm not sure what i'm going to do with it yet so I want some ideas. I can buy a used E4OD with 70000 miles on it that is in good working order for cheap. Should i buy this trans and hope for the best or swap in a c6 and never look back? what kind of mileage will i get with an efi 302 and a c6.. the truck is 2wd. or i have a c6/np208 in a 1982 f150 that i have junked and i know the trans is good, sooo... 4x4 swap? i dunno just want some ideas and what kind of mileage to expect. thanks
200 bucks for another direct bolt in part, that if the miles of 70k is verifiable, could likely outlast the truck.
im not seeing a down side.i know what I'd do.
it would consist of new pink fluid,a cooler, and a shift kit........and yup.overdrive still.
If you can get the direct replacement for 200, I would do that. You know it works now at 70k, it'll last you a while. You can't beat having overdrive on a daily driver.
I wouldn't mess with the 4x4 swap myself. Seems like too much work. You can buy a 4x4 truck for not all that much money and get rid of the 2wd if you really wanted the 4x4
should i buy a transmission without the converter? i'd really like all the opinions i can on this. i recently had torque converter shudder that went away, but i have code 62 (excessive torque converter clutch slippage). any input would be great..
