There is supposed to be a cheesy plastic bushing there. From what I've seen here, it always breaks or wears out leading to what you see there. One fix out there is to redo it with I think a heim joint that won't wear out like cheesy plastic bushing will.
I really ought to check mine at some point... hmmm
Yea, that's the pin. I don't really know where you get a replacement. The pin is spot welded into that short arm.
Here's what i did:
Removed the arm
Ground off the welds and punched the pin out.
Found a bolt that fit snugly (might be 7/16", i cant remember exactly)
Drilled the hole in the arm out to accept the new "pin" and spot welded it on
Drilled a small hole at the end to put the retainer clip through
would a worn out clutch be the cause of hard shifting into on 1 & 2 gear a auto tranny having problems with 1 & 2 gear ,the truck kind makes a clunk felling when shifting into those gears.
i was just wondering what could be wrong with the tranny it kinda clunks when it shifts into 1&2 gear thought automatics had clutches oops my bad i am still learning .
Thought it didn't look right, but I had to ask just to make sure.
And yes auto trans do have clutches, it's called a torque converter!
That might be whats wrong, but for your sake I sure hope not, doing that job would suck.
I had to take off a torque converter once, the bolts are on the back of the flexplate, and everyone of them where either rusted, or they rounded off when I tried getting them off.
And being on the back of the flexplate doesn't give you alot of room to work with.
I took mine out, welded the hole completely solid, and redrilled it to be the same size as the pin it goes on. no more problems. ive gone through those cheap bushings like candy. not any more
