hi everyone,it's me again... o.k. here's the deal..
i have a 1979 ford F250 4x4 and i noticed that when turning out of parking lots or whatever,it wouldnt turn as sharp to the right as it does to left..and i measured it today and it turns out that it lacks about 6 inches to equal the turn to the left..so my question is,is there anyway to adjust this or is something broke? or should i take it to a mechanic to get it fixed?? i thought it was the shock on the steering in the front hitting but i took it off to see and it's still the same..any help would be GREAT!! thanks in advance..

should be able to center the front wheels. pop off the pitman arm, center the gearbox.( count the turns from lock to lock then turn from one lock the other direction and stop half ways) put the pitman arm back on. your steering should be centered again.
i cant get it to work..it seems no matter what i do it still doesnt turn as sharp to the right as it does to the left..i dont know what to do..
i'm gonna go mess with it some more in a couple mins..
thanks everyone..
mike
still no luck!!! what the heck is the problem?? can anyone help me please..i have no idea what i have to do to fix this..any help would be great..
thanks ..

you know the piece that goes between the two wheels with the adjusting sleeve. make sure the sleeve is centered. that is an obvious problem that alot of people over look.

no i dont know how to check for that..but i took it to a mechanic who checked it for free and he told me that it's because of my pitman arm..he said when you lift a truck it has to have a drop pitman arm and a new drag link bar?? along with a bunch of other stuff he said is wrong with my truck..i hate it when they do that..but anyways he told me it would cost around 500.00 to fix it..i dont have that much money..i dont even have 50.00 right now..so i guess i'll just leave it alone for now..thanks for all your help though..i appreciate it..
