Low Power

Ok I have a 2005 f250 6.0 4x4 with 115000 miles. the truck will lose power and RPM goes to 1000 no higher in drive then in park it will rev up with a lot of gray somke not black. i can turn off the truck and start it drives fine or waite a few sec. and fine. Cleaned EGR it was bad is this my problem i am lost due to the gray smoke and and RPM at 1000 i did not see this in EGR threads.

Does the "Smoke" smell like diesel or coolant? When you cleaned the EGR Valve was it all wet and sticky, was there coolant inside the hole?

The EGR was black not wet more of a thick oil soot mix and i did not smell the exhaust but i did not see coolent.

How long has it been since you changed fuel filters? Have you code scanned it??

Changed the filters thinking it would fix it no luck. No CEL but dont have a code reader. Will autozone pull codes for this truck, i know they can not on my 2001. and dont want to $100 at dealership.

Are you loosing coolant? I'm not talking a visible leak but do you need to fill up the degauss bottle once in a while? That sticky oily crud on your egr valve could be a mixture of coolant and soot.
