Missile Launch?

Anybody see this yesterday evening?

DOD says it did not launch it, and doesn't know who did. Aren't they supposed to be on top of these things? Might have been Al Kyider.

More like the DOD "will neither confirm nor deny".........most likely at Navy test of the ship-based ABM missile.

On edit: Maybe, North Korea took a pot shot at you guys down there, and the Navy or USAF downed it!

I would like to think that if a ship fires a missle from anywhere that enters our 200 mile coastal zone, the DOD would take a little more interest. Further, if they don't know what it is, I would like it to be shot down.

I guess I'm asking too much, what with budget cuts and all.

I suspect the real answer is:

Navy lied.

i feel very uneasy on this happening. chances are it was our guys who launched it, but no one is claiming responsibility for it. the faa claims there was no certifications given out for any launches, and the guy on msnbc claiming it was a plane is a g/d moron.

i would feel way better if they just came out and said yeah we launched it but it's classified.

i also particularly loved the pentagon release stating that it wasn't them that launched it, and they didn't know who did or what it was, but that it was not a threat to our nation. can't believe they said that.

Most plausible answer yet.
Look for a "unannounced test" statement from DOD.

For a minute there, I thought you were suggesting the government would lie to us.

Perish the thought.

I don't know how they would have expected nobody to notice...there's only about 10 million people that could have seen it.

This is going to be the topic in the first hour of Coast To Coast tonight. No telling what kind of theories will pop up there.

Now they are trying to say it was just a vapor trail from an airplane.

How do they explain the glowing orange rocket trail? Even fighter jets burn blue, not orange.

Light refraction from the hot exhaust directly behind the aircraft can appear as "flame" when viewed from the right angle with the sun behind a jet powered aircraft.
Optical illusion? possibly.

I think the trajectory of the object rules that out.

Explanation I heard was, aircraft was actually coming towards Cali, light and curvature of the earth combined to make illusion of rapidly climbing ballistic projectile, If you look at the action shots, object looks to be barely moving, meaning it is actually coming towards field of viewer...........If you have ever witnessed a actual missile test, the acceleration is unmistakable, and extremely rapid......It would be nice to see better quality action views of this.

Seems to me like that phenomenon would have been noticed before, what with all of the aircraft there are flying around here.

I love a good conspiracy theory though
