Compass

Just figured out my XLT did not come standard with a compass. My teenage daughter's 2008 Ford Focus thinks that is low budget.

Guess I will be a slave to the nice Sync lady.

That's nothing. My wife says North is straight out the windshield. No matter what way you are facing.

if you have the sync lady, you have a compass. It's in the upper left of the nav screen

I have the XLT with SYNC and the Information screen...the temp and compass direction are right above the Built Ford Tough Logo and directly across from the Gauges tab on the screen, you can also see the actual compass if you advance into the Gauges tab.

Now, if you don't have the information center then you are probably out of luck.

when he said "slave to the sync lady" I thought he meant that he would have to follow the nav directions without knowing which was was north... maybe I misread

Good call. I didn't think that I "needed" that option, but was wrong.

I am going to start a thread about the wrong decisions that I made when purchasing the truck, even after researching what I thought I should buy.

Did I mention that the iPhone - Sync BT streaming works well?

Oh man, don't start that thread! I thought I got my truck with every imaginable thing that I could want but then I discovered I didn't! Who knew?

I was going to let this thread die a slow death, but wanted to say that you are correct.

I think the current solution is to suppliment the sync lady with a hand held GPS when heading to remote locations.

Not to sound like a pig, but Ford did the market research on these trucks and came to the same conclusion I would have. There is a need for a compass on a Focus and not on a SuperDuty. Ford (and my) logic is as follows - 95% of SuperDuty buyers are men, men either already know where they are going or ain't going to ask directions if they don't. Thus, what the hell would we do with a compass. On the other hand 70% of Focus buyers are women and as evidenced by some of the comments in this tread, a compass is a must have......
