Dual tanks question.

Anybody ever put a short bed, side mount fuel tank in a long bed? I have a friend parting out his f-150 after his frame broke. He says the sending unit is different between the short and long beds, or my year vs his. I'd like to put this in my f250, so i can have dual tanks. My bed already has two gas fillers so no worries about that.

There are differences in the sending units from early to later models but it's mostly in how the wiring harnes connects... direct connection on the FDM or via a pigtale, and the shape of the hard lines. The good news is that the top portion with the hard lines and wiring connector is detatchable so you can create something that will work for your truck by mixing and matching parts from two or more FDMs.

Sounds easy enough. Another question how would i set up the FDM with the pre existing tank, and with the current fuel lines etc.?

*edit* So it looks like i will need a fuel tank switch. Modify the existing fuel pump wire after it comes of the inertial switch to go to the switch and then run the wire or wires of that to the fuel tank pumps.
