Yeah... brain storm!

So, i have my 87 F150 and i miss my Dually. I started doing some research and found out you could order the 87 F350-dually with the I6 300 in it. Makes sense, 125Hp at almost 300ft.lbs of torque. I really want a DUALLY but dont have the pocket change to drop on one this season i dont think. What about swapping a dually rear end into the f150? Rebuild it and slide it under it. I already am running an air-ride assist on my truck. I want a goose neck hook up too... Do i do just the goose/5th and forget the dually? I currently pull 4700lbs daily and have pulled 7000lbs with it. I know the 3speed w/granny low bolts upto everything and have seen this motor/trans set in F350s.

WHAT TO DO!?
My truck doesnt leak, squeak or shutter... it pulls and pushes as demanded.

The only thing that I can think is that the frame in the F150 vs the F350 is a lot weaker. People give me crap about the upgraded F250 springs and axles on my truck, even though I put a lot of weight on/in it. They say that upgrading the suspension and axles to carry weight just shifts the weakest point of the truck more to the frame. I have the air assist on my truck too and when I throw my camper in the back, she sits a bit heavy. Not to say that it's over loaded by any means (and the roll with the body lift makes it a fun ride) but it goes down the road fine. Another thing to consider with the weight that your currently pulling is upgrading your front brakes because heavy loads are torture on the F150's front brakes unless you have trailer brakes. I don't want to disuade you from what you want to do but it's just my $.02 so take it for what it's worth.

Yeah, i used good ol' google and found a VIN search. It is good up to 0 - 6Klbs load so i am pushing it at 7000lbs when i do. I do have a electrical brake assist on the truck and my dump trailer has duel axle brakes.
One correction tho... on the frames upto 1996(i think) they are the same for all three classes F150, F250 and F350. The only difference is the rear end and suspension on them. I have loaded my dump trailer full to 7000lbs and the bed with 1500lbs (8500lbs total) and it pulled it like it had nothing behind it.

Ill have to look into it more.

I might have to find someone to trade me a dually for my f150... blah. I want to beable to pull up to 26Klbs and not think about it...

I know that the cab and bed mounts are the same but I don't think the frame is. The width might be but I know that the F150 had crumple zones in the front originally. The F250 and F350 (4x4 at least) had a spot for a leaf spring hanger in the front which the F150 lacked. The previous owner hacked off the front of my frame and welded the front end, body mount and all, onto the front of my frame so that he could move over the leaf spring mount. I could be wrong on how heavy duty they are though.

Well... crap, i was lied to then... Ill take blame tho, i didnt research.

I think i am going to just look into finding an older F350 Again...
