I think Ford is getting really close to a class action lawsuit on this problem. A TSB is issued acknowledging a problem and nothing is done for the customers? Wow!

mine too

My 2010 with 36,200 miles just had the trans fluid puddle on the floor also. It was the bulkhead connector deal also. Was covered because of the 5 year 60,000 warranty. I asked how much to repair had it not been under warranty and they said a little over $300. Looks like they have a real problem to me.

I bought my 2010 a few weeks ago with the bulk head connector leaking. Of course I made them fix it before I purchased it. Very common problem, my father in law is a mechanic and says that no recall because it's not deemed a safety issue. Come on we can't even check our fluid level unless we're under the truck!

Well, it's been two years since I have done the above, and now guess what? It looks like it is happening again! Guess I will have to take it back to the dealer and see how they handle it. The truck is out of warranty now. And I doubt there is a warranty on the repair.
If you have the same problem, and they repair it, ask them if they warranty the repairs in case it happens again. It did on my '09.

Ford's current standard repair warranty is two years unlimited miles.

What's your truck's model year and mileage, hooler1? Have you already made an appointment to head back in to your dealership?

In another thread an owner with a 2010 had his transmission lock up on the highway. What is it with these transmissions?

Holy crap, reading these forums is worse than a hypochondriac reading WebMD
I wonder how common this problem actually is. I have a 2009 and it makes me wonder if it is a ticking time bomb of potential problems

Hi Crystal,

It's a 2009, I'm the second owner, and it just rolled 62000 miles. I have not talked to the dealership about it yet. I have a lot of faith in my dealership. They are about an hour from where I live, but they are worth very mile of the trip. And they have always done right by me. The truck sits most of the time. I might of put 2500 miles on it last year. But as soon as I can arrange some time off, I will make an appointment with them.

When did this TSB come out. I have a 2009 I bought used and am trying to figure out if this could have already been done?

Any idea on the frequency of this problem? It seems like most things in that it is hit or miss and it it was a problem with nearly every truck of those years then we would have heard more screaming from the rooftops.

2 year warranty?

tseekins noted that the Ford dealer warranty on repairs was 2 years. I would like to hear from Crystal that this is accurate or not. When I had the bulkhead connector leak repaired 3 weeks ago the dealer verbally told me 1 year or 12,000 miles???

Sounds like you have an awesome dealership, hooler1! Be sure to come back and let us know how your next visit with them goes.

Hi brcman,

The Service Parts Warranty coverage on Ford Genuine & Motorcraft Parts replaced is 24 months/unlimited miles. Parts replaced at Ford's expense (e.g., Warranty, Customer Satisfaction Programs, Special Service Instructions, Field Service Actions, etc.) are a bit different depending on the situation. For all the specific scenarios, check out the Warranty Guide for your particular vehicle here: https://owner.ford.com/servlet/Conte...e&ord=10154817 Let me know if you have any questions.

Hi Crystal. I did talk to the dealership they thought the warranty on this repair was 1 yr or 12000 miles. My repair was done over two years ago in Jan 2013 so either way if it's the same problem it doesn't look like I could get the repair covered by Ford. I do have an aftermarket warranty with Costal so I am hoping they will help with some coverage. We'll see what happens from there.
