weird torqshift problem

weird torqshift problem
Ok so for the 3rd time in 6 months my truck randomly dropped its adaptive shift stratagy. When shifting into 4th it kicks and doesn't go in. Then the tow/haul button blinks and the truck won't shift past 3rd until I restart it. And then it just kicks again.
Now I know how to retrain the tranny but I have to go through the procedure like 10 times for it to stick.
And its not staying for more then a few months. I have not disconected the batterys or pulled any fuses or relays to cause this.
I'm wondering if anyone has had this problem? Or can figure what is going on. A bad pcm? Or a short on the memory wire? Its frusterating as hell any help would be awesome.
Trucks a early 2004 f 350 crew cab 4x4 auto trans. No chips or mods past a coolant filter.

When the tow/haul light blinks a code has been stored. If you were to read that code it would tell you what the PCM is seeing that's wrong. Then we could help you find out what's wrong. Without the code nobody knows.
