95 F250, 5.8 Alternative grounding
I've got a 1995 F250, 5.8 4x4.
I've been having problems getting my alternator to charge my battery. After buying new parts and breaking out the voltmeter, I figured I have a rotten ground. I suspect its the one that comes right off the battery to the passenger side of the engine block. It's covered in rust. Its also very difficult to reach. So cleaning it will call for some serious disassembly. Is there any chance I could mount my new ground in a new place on the block? Also, is it normal to get continuity even though your ground wires are rusted? Are there any other areas where rusty grounds are common?

I find it easier to service the engine ground connections from underneath the truck. Yes it can be common to get a reasonable continuity reading with a corroded cable and/or connection when using a DVM. Once some current starts to flow, that is when the higher resistance starts to work against you.
