Different IPs?

I had a 85 6.9 and am switching in a 87 and was thinking about putting the 85's IP on the 87 because it looked alittle newer. but now i'm looking at them side by side and there are a few small differences between the two.
the 85 is a stanadyne International fuel systems reman
the 87 is also stanadyne but just has a red reman tag with no other company name.
are they interchangeable like i said there are defineate differences but i don't know if they really mater
I can give numbers off them if that helps at all
Thanks in advance for any help
