im sure its already on here, but i dont have time to go through 1200+ pages to find out. anyways, my lights for my gauges went out about 6 months ago and just now got a chance to change them out, and they still didnt work after putting new bulbs. the turn signal indicator, hi beam indicator and all others work fine just on the gauges, also its on an 84 f150. does anybody have any suggestions on what it could be?
thanks for the info. I pulled up the diagram for the fuse box and looked in my truck and the fuse was missing lol. i changed the bulbs and wasted time for nothing
No, you just need to remove the instrument cluster. Take off the front bezel (three screws at the top, light switch, and wiper switch). The wiper switch comes off by releasing a small spring on the bottom of the **** where it joins the shaft...stick a small straight screwdriver in the slot and pull the whole thing back towards you. The light switch comes off by reaching under the dash and locating a release button on the switch where the switch meets the dash. Pull the lightswitch **** out from the dash while pushing this button in. The lightswitch **** will release. This will turn your lights on, so once the **** releases push it back in gently enough to turn off the lights, but not so hard that it re-engages with the underdash switch. If your truck is an automatic, remove the lower steering column trim (one screw underneath). Unbolt the shift indicator cable from the steering column (one 8mm bolt) and disconnect the cable. Remove four screws from the cluster...two top and two bottom, all will be on white plastic. Pull the cluster forward. Reach behind, on the left side disconnect the speedometer cable by pressing down on the large tab and pushing it off. And on the right side push in the plastic tabs on the sides of the cluster wiring harness plug and pull it out. Then pull the cluster all the way out. All your lights plug in from the back of the cluster. It takes about 3-4 minutes to do once you're used to it. Installation is the reverse of above.
