The reason is because the 6.0l has hydraulic injectors and when its cold come oil seeps into the fuel and gets burned until the engine warms up enough and the seals expand so no oil leaks in
I dont buy that therory my truck has 63,000 miles on it and its never doe it. If there is oil getting into the cylinders there is a problem, wether its a seal leaking, or an injector going bad, I would rather not have my truck smoke blue.
You probly haveinjector issues or the truck wsnt assembled properly. It shouldnt shudder or miss, you need to get it backs ASAP.

I will be taking truck back this week. Also noticed that coolant was at the min. level (truck cold) when I left the dealer on Friday and today with minimal driving there is barely any coolant in the tank now! I told them about the vibration rough running when I took my truck there but now it seems like it is worse and running rough at several different rpm ranges, blue-ish smoke,WOW! My truck stayed
there for over two weeks so they could do head gasket job and now it is worse than when I took it to them. They replaced oil cooler, said egr cooler was ok and were waiting for Ford to get back with them about the engine running rough. From what I read in the tech folder it definitely sounds like injectors are the problem?
Normally they replace the EGR cooler and rebuild the Oil cooler. I would sya just get it back to them, but I am a little nervous that something wasnt done right.

I just got off the phone with service advisor and told him I was bringing it back. They installed new oil cooler and said egr cooler was ok but I don't see on th service write-up where they checked it. A friend of mine had head gaskets done at same dealer and he said they replaced egr cooler also, I figured I would get same treatment considering the problems. When my warranty expires in Jan. I was planning on doing an egr delete myself, probably using the sinister egr delete kit. What do u think sarge?
I think you should get that truck back to the dealer and get the problems fixed, then worry about the EGR delete. If you delete the egr you will also need some cutom tuning to keep the CEL off and prvent the truck from going into limp home mode.
If you go down a few pages Cheezit has a write up on why NOT to delete the EGR system. The other thing you should consider is if there will be emssions testing for diesels in your area...if there is then you cant delete the EGR.
I am in the same situation, my warranty expired 11/5/2010 but my truck is running fine, except the smoke, but if I were in need of a EGR cooler I may look at the Bullet Proof EGR cooler as another option.
Like I said fisrt thing is the get that truck back to the dealer and running right. It could be simple or it could be that the heads need to come back off, but get it back, then worry about everything else.
