May be setting up a 6.9l to run as a power unit and was wondering about running off-road diesel. Q1 will the red dye be filtered out or stop up the filter faster? Q2 will it run different, more or less power and such?
It runs 100% the same. Just Red and no the filter will not remove the red dye. Red dye is 100% the same as on road low sulfer fuel. It is dyed solvent red #5 while it is being filled at the fuel rack for transport.
it'll just turn that ol idi nice and pretty pink inside. i am NOT speeking from expeirence though...
Solvent red when burned looks black like regular fuel nothing will turn color inside. You use a reagent to test for it in the exhaust soot. This is how DOT enforces it.

They do that also here as it is much cheaper than the 30.00 swab. But if they have a feeling you have been running red dye and the tank dip shows nothing they swab the exhaust. The reagent is very strong and even if its been months since the red dye was burned they will find it.
