Smile 2010 EXCURSION DIVERSION

So the title is exactly that. Anyone know whats going on? I've been waiting. By this time in the years past, we have decided a date, location, and booked by now? Anyone?????????? Hopefully last year wasn't the finally. It would be nice to see the ones who have been to the previous diversions. I know that my family and I made some good friends from there.

I saw joe talking on another thread about running for the head of the indiana chapter, and I know he just recently got back from a vacation (hawaii ) must be ruff. So I don't no if he has had time to think about next years excursion meet yet.

I am here...and yes to woodhead...I was running for the Indiana Chapter Leader position and have won that position.

I also was in Hawaii...and loved it so much I'll be going back in April (it is ruff but someone has to do it!)

As far as next year's diversion...yeah I'm behind from where I have been in the past for sure!

Right now I'm not sure what my own personal plans are going to be next summer...I do know I will be taking my family on a near 3 week trek out to Glacier NP in Montana with stops at Teddy Roosevelt NP in ND as well as heading thru Idaho and into Washington state (Spokane) before heading back to Yellowstone, Devils Tower, Rushmore, Badlands, Wall Drug and home...that will easily consume my July.

In the past folks on here have been resistant to doing a Diversion in June since schools vary when they get out and also have been resistant to doing a Diversion in August for the same school reasons...so...that doesn't leave many choices and I'm struggling with how to balance everything.

Also I do have some added responsibilities with my Indiana Chapter Leader role and will be doing some local get togethers within the state in May, August and early October.

Couple that with the fact that I will close the year with business airline travel of 225,000 miles this year alone...well I'm finding less and less time available to do some things...

Putting these Diversions together is not that much time and I enjoy doing it...but I'm getting to the point of saturation...

I would not be offended in any way shape or form if someone wanted to take on coordination of these Diversions to share the load if you will...anyone?

I'm willing to help in any way I can too...

Thoughts?

DOAH!!!!! I did mean 2011. I was at the 2010 diversion.

Hey Joe. Sounds like your're having a busy/fun vacation. I hear ya on the busy thing. Glad to hear all is well. I am definately up for whatever. I am kind of being like the follower on these kind of things though.

ANYONE OUT THERE WITH A VOTE ON WHERE THE 2011 DIVERSION SHOULD BE??????

I'm new here so maybe this has already been done, but I'd be interested in meeting at the Kentucky Truck Plant where these trucks were made. A tour of the plant would be great if that could be arranged.

walt,

believe it or not...way back in 2007 when we started planning for the FIRST Ex Diversion...the #1 place we all wanted to visit and the reason we started talking about the group getting together was to go to the Kentucky plant as a group for a tour.

Back then (it may have changed now?) we called and were told due to security reasons tours are not permitted.

Interestingly enough at this years Diversion I met my camping neighbor (I'm so shy I don't talk to anyone haha)...and he works at the Kentucky plant (remember we were in Southern Indiana right on the Kentucky border)...I gave him my business card and he was going to check to see if he could find someone to work this out...as of yet...I haven't heard from him...so...while your idea is still a good one...unless someone has a high ranking Ford contact that we could use...we've struck out trying.

As far as next years choices...the ideas the group at the rally had were as follows (in no particular order).

1) Cedar Point Ohio (awesome amusement park that I try and hit every year)
2) Hershey Pennsylvania (great family location for sure)
3) Memphis (I think but I'm not 100% sure on this one...anyone remember that was there?)

This thread got me thinking about my family summer trip next year...initial routing has it looking like I'll be on the road from July 9th thru July 24 (basically the month of July) touring our beautiful country...so as I suspected July is pretty much out for me...

I guess it won't hurt to get a brief tally of where people are interested in going and when you are thinking of holding it...for my work and my family...I'm not sure it will work out unless it is fairly close for me since I can't take another week off right after that long vacation...so weekend of August 5-7 would be my only "possible" window.

Joe.

Hey Joe,
Is there a way to do a search query on the Ex thread to see what states have how many members? I don't mean names or anything, just pure numbers. That way, we could all look at maybe what top two or three states have the most members to pull from and try to arrange something near the most? Does that make sense instead of trying to pull only a handful from some states spread all over. The logistics of the dates could come afterwards.

Joe,

There is a search tool on here that I'm not 100% sure if anyone can use or not...As an example here are all the Excursion owners that have EVER joined FTE... https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/m...ear=&end_year= this tool can be targeted to the info you are talking about...provided everyone that drives an Ex has entered it in their profile...keep in mind that only a small percentage of these folks are still active on here and many don't even have contact information in their profile...notice there are 7500+ Excursion owners listed...

We've been doing these Diversions for 3 years now...and we have tried to have someone else step up and have another one in another region...but no one seemed willing to organize it for whatever reason...they aren't that hard to organize and getting to meet the people we chat with is simply awesome!

Let me know if this is what you were talking about...

Good to hear from you Joe!!!
