I have a broken choke on my truck. I found out that the choke piston lever & shaft assembly(at least thats what the haynes book calls it) has broken. The end of that choke piston has broke off and now it cannot connect to the automatic choke spring. Heres a picture of the part im talking about LINK
If you look at the first photo on the right the part broke right where the finger is.
Has anybody ever replaced this part before? Do you know where I can find this part? I've been searching and so far no luck.
My truck is a 79 F250 with the 300 straight six and 1bbl carb
Technically no. All that piston does is keep the choke plate open slightly for just enough air to be able to pass through the throat of the carburetor when the engine is first started. You could control that manuallly, although it might take a little more control.
