I like the Weathertechs better as well. I notice that they had a booth at the car wash convention and I stopped and chatted for a while. My only complaint was that it took about 10 days for them to arrive. They told me that they make them as they are ordered. That would explain not being able to find them in stock. I would think they would sell tons more of them if they put some of the popular ones in stock at some big chain. I know that three more sets have been sold just from people seeing mine.
I ordered them from 2 places online and both places canceled my order because they were out of stock with no estimated delivery.

Yeah, I could imagine if you throw in a middleman it would really slow things down. I ordered all of mine from Weathertech and got them within a reasonable time frame (10-14 days).
In my 2000, I have liners, but they are full plastic molded liners with a carpet center. You can't see ANY of the factory carpet unitl you get to the trans hump.
Anybody hear of such a thing? They came with the truck.
I've seen the Husky liners and they were nice, but found a great deal on the new WeatherTech laser cut mats that are vehicle specific. They are GREAT!!! They kept moving since they are molded to the exact layout of the foot wells but a little double sided tape on the edges near the door keeps them put. These are the only mats I'll buy from now on.

The husky Weatherbeater is also molded to the exact shape of the floor/footwell and are model specific. And you don't need any tape as they do not move around at all.
I just got the Weathertech liners for my '11 F-250. I ordered them direct from Weatehrtech and received them in 4 days. They seem to be caught up, at least for their own stock. Price was $117.95 shipped.
4 years & 110k miles on my Husky liners and I still love them. Carpets stay clean and I haven't worn through them yet, not even close. My girlfriend just bought an '02 Explorer and I bought her a set right away.

Don't know about plastic, but the Weathertec DigitalFit sound like what you describe.
I have the Ford mats, been very happy with them and would do them again.
