My 05 350 6.0 with 62K miles in the past two weeks has developed a sporadic fluctating idle (~200 rpm). It is not constant. If I let it idle for 20 minutes, it may only happen once or twice for a second or so, or it may happen every 10 times I come to idle, or it may go two days without doing it. Oil/filter and fuel filter changed with no noted improvement. Does not seem to matter if in park or in gear. Took to Advance Auto to check for codes, scanner indicated no codes. When engine is cold, it also seems to occassionally fluctuate when accellerating but always seems fine above 30 mph. It did the idle thing about a year ago for a couple of days then went away on its own. Maybe it don't like fall. My first post, though have been looking for a while. Appreciate any help.

My 05 did this about a year ago at 88k, sounds like an ICP sensor to me. Check the voltage on the ICP, should be 1.2 volts. Mine was at .8 and it caused the symptoms you describe. The ICP sensor is located on the front of the passenger side valve cover for your 05, also check the wiring to it, make sure it's not loose
Thanks for the replys. Been out of town all week. Anyhow, I disconnected and reconnected the ICP and egr connections. Have not had a problem since. Must have been a poor connection. Since I just had to replace the alternator the day prior to this occuring, I must have bumped one on the connections. Regardless, not one idle issue in a week so I feel it is resolved. Thanks again
