I've had my truck for 2 months now and have been debating on getting the flash. I want it but everything is fine the way it is and I guess I just don't trust the dealer to do it right. Last thing I want right now is it start throwing check engine lights and such because it wasn't done right. I don't feel like going back and forth to the dealer. Decisions, decisions.......
Well I won't lie to you and tell you there is no chance of having problems, but the chances are very, very slim. Maybe progress just isn't for you. Perhaps you would be better off in a 7.3! LOL

I was a Ford Tech in Oklahoma City for six years and for all the flashes I did on the 6.4l and the 6.0L..I assure you there is nothing to worry about. There is NO WAY that it can be done wrong...all a guy does is plugs in the IDS to the DLC port and goes through the motions getting to the option to flash the pcm with the correct update and the IDS does it all for him....the only thing that could go wrong would be he plugs in the computer and bends a bunch of pins (would never happen unless the tech was a 6 year old) or the battery is dead and it half way flashes the computer and then they correct the battery system and redo the pcm from the IDS with the AS BUILT codes specific to your VIN and once that is done it then updates the computer if the AS BUILT didn't already do it.
So sleep soundly nothing can go wrong!
Go for it brother! It won't hurt your truck and it will only make it better. I am nervous if anyone even touches my truck at the dealership. So this is what I did, when my truck went back into the dealership for spray-in bed liner and undercoating...here's how the conversation went to the salesmen..." Ok here's the deal...my truck is a very big deal in my life...I put a blanket over it at night in my garage....if anything happens to this truck I am going to lose my temper and mind....so treat this truck like a 8,000 pound new born baby!......put your best man on the job!".....it worked...No problems.

You will be fine...Do it!! :-)
Thats funny!!! Thats the exact same thing I said when I had to take my Shelby in for something...I'm sure I'll say the same thing when mine goes into tomorrow for the update and to realign the front bumper.
Seven brand new moving blankets over the truck!! I don't want my baby to get cold!!! My neighbors think I am nuts....Screw them....I have waited my whole life for a truck like this!!.......I know...I can't cover it forever...but damn let me at least have a couple months to let the "Newest" rub off!!

if you like it as is why bother? leave well enough alone right......i on the other hand can't wait to get mine done....10 more HP and 65 more ft-lbs for no additional charge it's a no brainer for me....and if they screw it up, it will be a pain to go back and forth to the dealer but they have to fix it or replace it since it's under warranty. also is it just a certain dealer or all dealers that you don't trust to do it right? if it's just one in particular take it to another.
The other items in the flash are just as good or better than the hp and torque. The gear display and better shifting are by themselves worth the flash...
I had my truck about a week and a half when I received my notice. Called the dealer that day, took my baby in on Monday 7 AM, picked her up at noon with no issues, heck they even washed her for me, which kinda offended me, I thought she was spotless when I dropped her off

I don't trust any dealers around me. I just called the dealer where I bought it from to see if they could do it today. They said it takes 90 mins, once it flashed it has to idle for 15 minutes, and then be test driven, etc, etc before turning it back over to the customer. The average everyone seems to be posting on here is that it takes 30 minutes.
