Does anyone know where I can get a portion valve for brake system? New, reman, or a company that rebuilds them? I have a 77 and a 78 f250 both of them a rear line blew out before I bought the trucks and now the valve switched to shut off the rear brakes. I cleaned the one on my 77 and put it to gether still wouldnt trick it self back to original position. took inner rubber seal out and now it work. I just want to get new or rebuilt ones. Can not find any info on them tho
I believe that LMC trucks carry them. I would check but for some reason Turkish censorship has decided that is a site that needs blocked. Guess they know redneck **** when they see it. lol
I had the same problem, and no one carries them including advanced auto, auto zone, napa, pepboys, kenckles, and a few others i checked. Also, checked LMC and MACS, ebay and everywere online with no luck. I just bought mine last week, and put it on about 4 hours ago, works great, almost perfect fit, i did have to change 2 fittings, but it came with an optinal adapter kit for $20 more...well worth it. I was worried at first because it is not "nos", but an aftermarket part and someone said it looked like a cheaply made chinease part...but it works great. Like i said, i just put it on about 4 hours ago, but i test drove it and it worked great soo far. It bolted to the stock location, and all line inlets were in stock locations. Apparently, it works for all fullsize trucks and broncos of these years. Here is the site........... Proportioning Valve - WILD HORSES Early Ford Bronco Parts
I also took a lot of pictures but havent posted them yet...it is made of brass or something, and comes with new mounting bolts, brake light switch, also has a plug if you dont want that meaningless brake light to turn on......haha came with printed instructions, but i did end up calling and talked to james or justin, very helpfull....the stock brake light switch has 2 wires, the new one only has one. You just hook all 3 together. I think the total price was like between 130-150 or something, and i had it in about a week
also, it doesnt look cheap or anything...actually weights slightly more than the stock one. Also, be carefull when tightening the lines onto the unit, because it is brass, i think it looks like might strip easily.
That is the only one i could find...the only other option was to remove the stock proportioning valve and install a T-fitting, and an universal adjustable proportioning valve....that way would have been about $50. total...but i went the other way because a lot less custom fab work and one less headach...also, i didnt want to "rig" the braking system...i think that is the last place someone should practace their creative skills...haha
Thanks mdr617 and eviiltim72 for the info. I did check lmc months ago they sell just the sensor. I will try wildhorses next thanks again. mdr617 did you ever run across a rebuild kit for them? Id do it myself if I could fing new seals n spring. They are very simple to take apart and put together
No, and i checked everywere...if you find a rebuild kit though...let me know...i kept my original one. But a lot of people were saying that they rebuilt these on other trucks before, and all that it comes with were the seals and orings, and they still had problems because the piston or springs or something was still worn out.
