REAR MAIN SEAL ISSUE??

ok, i searched on here but didnt really answer my questions....

first off, i have a fairly new pcv valve, so im not leaning towards that causing issue.....
but it started about maybe two weeks ago, that i noticed anyway....under hard accel, or when i kept it out of O/D and rpms upwards of 2k i could smell a little tell tale of burnt oil....its gotten worse last couple days, so i really need to figure out whats wrong......

i think its the rear main....pretty sure of it actually....like said, fresh pcv, no apparent leaks at valve covers.....

i have not done a compression test or checked for excessive blow by....

but last couple days or so, i dont need to drive it so hard to get the smell..... in fact, almost easy normal daily driving, and im smelling it at every stop light now.....

what are the chances of me stretching this thing out for a month till money is better, if/when it finally goes, will i have warning, or will it leak like this for ever and a day???

im keeping a close watch on the oil.....so far, seems like i used about 1/4-1/2 quart over the last 2000 miles or so......

is mine a 1 or 2 piece seal?

Keep a close Eye on your oil level its easier to pour in a quart there. then R and R a motor .......look for leaks if non present i would do a cylinder leak down test, taht will tell you a lot also after that do compression check so yo can get a better idea of what ur dealing with.......a couple weeks ago i was chasing a oil leak, it was driving me nuts turned out to be a bad exhaust valve guide thanks to Machine shop.......keep us posted PS Also it wouldn't hurt to add Dye to ur oil and go looking for it that way.
Good Luck

is it a one piece seal or two ?.......with a one piece is it necessary to drop the crank ?
or just drive new one on sort of like a pinion seal?

1 piece. You can do it after pulling the trans & flex plate, no messing with the oil pan or crank.
