I'm looking around right now for something to my self, looking more into a pre-91 Ford Econoline vans. I've got my eye on one, but it's 2 hours away. Might go see it this weekend.
Also got 2 IDI's i'm looking at.
1989 F250 XLT Lariat Super cab long bed, 2wd, 332,000km, very little rust, 1500$ OBO.
1990 F250 XLT Lariat Super Cab long bed, 2wd, 435,000km (new injector pump, fuel pump, starter, fuel tanks) for 500$. Says body isn't great..... but isn't far from me so might go see it also this weekend.
Only thing that's making me think twice about both trucks is that they both have E4OD's and none say that they been rebuilt.
I guess I can find a diesel C6 and keep it as a spare for when time comes to use it. Or better a standard trans, doesn't matter witch one. (never really did care for OD). It just be a pain to do a auto to standard swap at this time of year.

Yea, but from what i've heard of it, doesn't take much to start messing up....
And I won't have the money to invest in it if it starts craping on me before I find a replacement.
I plan to kill this truck! I'm gonna run the crap outta it, it's gonna be a temperary truck for the time it takes to restore my dads F250. Only good thing that's gonna be left of it after i'm done with it will be the engine!
But anyways, I'd preffer a van.
I will go have a look at those trucks tho, they both run and drive great as they say. So we'll see.

I can try to get it back on track:
Batteries: Two brand new Motocrafts
Alternator: Brand New
Starter: Tested Good
Glow Plugs: All 8 brand new
Coolant: Need to check - Have test strips
Oil: Just changed to Rotella T6 5w-40 synthetic
Power Steering & Brakes: Recent flush
Air: Fairly New 6637
Block heater: Works great -- Extension cord:Check
Other than a small oil leak and most likely a coolant flush I am good to go! I've been cold starting with under 30* temps in the morning and firing right up.
Edit: could use some greasing up front as well.

You might be surprised to see how well an older 2wd F150 can do in the snow. It will carry 1000lbs no problem unless the springs are shot. I already have a heavy propane bottle in the midship location of my F150 and with some nice tires on the back, that truck outshined the odd 4x4s during a big dump years ago (I had to take a driving test like that! - passed HAHA!!)
Thing is they roll on half the tire pressure and generally don't have the torsion equilizer bars which allows them to very easily find traction compared to diesel F250s. You likely won't be able to drag some one out of the ditch, but I was able to drive over 8" of snow as long as there was something solid underneath to be found. I think that's pretty good for a 2wd.
As for 11MPG......wow, that 4.9 needs an *** kicking. Guessing a few sensors aren't being honest.
