My Speedometer on my 1994 Explorer is very erradict bouncing all over the place as you drive. Anyone had this problem before and how did ya fix it. Thanks!

 

That is usually due to a bad VSS. This sensor provides information about the vehicle speed, which can affect a number of other systems. The transmission on the 4.0L models is the A4LD, which will still make the shifts 1-2 and 2-3 normally, but may not make the 3-4 shift if the signal is erratic, i.e. it may not shift, or may drop out of 4th gear when the problem occurs.

 

I was out with it today and na noise coming from the dash board when it went erratic. The truck is shifting thru the gears fine and is down shifting properly when it needs to climbing hills. I think now that it may be in the speedo itself.
