FE 360 Trans. Option
I have a 72 F250 with what i believe is a FE 360? and has 4 speed 2wd manual trans. I would like swap in a 3 speed non OD trans. like a C6? First what year trans. do i need to look at? Im looking for a new or remanufactured one with a warranty. My second question is what Torque convert will i use? My Consern is being a 72 and a manual will i be able to get a convert that pilot bearing hole is the correct size.

You need a 2wd model C6 from behind any FE engine.
Once you have the trans, you can get the torque converter. I know there are different pilot sizes, but I don't know off hand the years/models. Find that info here:

You may need cross member and drive shaft work also, but you can figure that out.
