Anyone seen this before? If its true about the MOTORCRAFT being a Purolator Pure One inside it will save 7-8 bucks for me on my next o/c going back to the FL-1995 Motorcraft over the Purolator Pure One that I have used the last 3 o/c's....
"who cares if its a purolator" all you need is a motor-craft since it is OEM and it seems everyone like them. i run motor-craft on my 96 7.3 since new, has 340k miles, no internal engine problems.
Yes, I've seen it before. Many times. It used to be on the MiniMopar website.
It has been around more than a decade, started around 1999 if I recall, and the author rarely adds to or changes anything. Latest update about three years ago. It's all pretty old information by today's standards.
It's a fast-changing world out there nowadays. Of course, some things never change, too.
And... the study applies to Motorcraft FL-1A's, not 1995's. There's no evidence given by the author that Purolator manufactures the -1995's at all. There's a LOT of re-branding that goes on in the filtration industry, and that is especially true of air filters.
I have used nothing but Wix oil and fuel filters for 186,000 miles with no problems--but the other day I was in Wally world pricing Rotella which they were out of and thought I would check the price of Motorcraft 1995 which were less than 10 bucks. That is about half the price of the Wix and has the additional advantage of being OEM. Guess who's the dummy here.
