Increase performance 2006 E250 5.4

I have started towing a 28 ft travel trailer with my 2006 E250. It's got a 5.4 v-8 and I am amazed at how crappy the mileage is, 7.9. I found a thread the other day and a guy claimed he increased his mileage to 12 by doing several bolt on things. I don't know where the thread is, didn't write it down but I am looking for help. My funds are limited and I would like to do things as I can afford them. I need some help. I have put a K&N cold air intake on and it had no effect, it may have even reduced mileage. This guy also put on an improved exhaust, a Jet Power Flow Sensor oxygen intake sensor and a Diablo Sport - Preadator chip
Bill.

Your not going to get huge mpg improvements with a tuner or the vast majority of bolt ons. I've been there and done that and my mpg has stayed the same if not got a little worse. Five star tuning has a good tow tune as well as performance tune for the modulars. Both are tunes suited for your particular truck and is not an off the shelf hack job like a lot of the advertised tuners on the market. The only way I would even consider a Diablosport tuner is with a good set of custom tunes. I've dealt with Diablos canned tunes and they are pretty bad.
