anyone got an opinion on which is the best battery for our weather. I have tried the Canadian Tire eliminator 1000 cold cranking amps. Actually Ive had 2 of them. I can't say as I'm too impressed. They have a great warranty (if I can find my receipt)
The one I have now is just about shot and is less than 3 years old. Any thoughts?
Hey Greenstreak theres a battery guy at the bottom of Park rd in Oshawa right on Bloor by Go-Go pizza I forget the name of the place, I've been dealing with him for a few years now. His price's on new and used are good and he stands by what he sells. You might want to check him out. Every thing I've ever bought from him has been great!. And he gives a good amount off on the new batt for any old batts you have lying around "in fact he'll take as many as you give him".
(good warranty and no recipt needed he stamps all his products with the date and id)
Thanks Nutter, I go past that place every day, I'll check him out tomorrow or Friday. I am going to take this eliminator back to Canadian Tire and see what they can do for me. Right now Im down to one good battery for 4 vehicles so i'll need at least another one or two.
And no I haven't run across a liner yet but I haven'y really been looking too hard. My 79 f100 is sitting in the driveway (too tall to fit in the garage). I put a new double timing chain in it, got it mostly back together before this cold weather made me wimp out and leave it for a warmer day. Ive just got to tighten the harmonic balancer in replace the rad, coolant etc and drive (or dig it out) of snow drift she's sitting in. THEN i'll be able to get a liner home (long winded for 4:00am arn't I)
Thanks again
I'm stuck with it my self for the rest of the year now to. My barn/shop is snow bound now, I cant even get to it in 4x4. I was going to get my buddy to dig out a path with the loader but heck it took him over an hour just to clear my driveway and parking area. Hopefully nothings going to give out on me to the point it needs to go in the barn.
Let me know how you make out with the battery thing.
Hey,
All my dad buys for his work trucks are the Canadian Tire Eliminator batteries (1000 COLD Cranking Amps!!). They are pretty good batteries. We had one go on us and took it back for a replacement and they don't make them anymore. They had a lot of problems with them they said. So we got a brand new one with I believe 875 COLD cranking amps. You may want to look at those ones. Just a thought
its amazing nutter. The cold weather left and the truck runs great.New brakes, double timing chain, used battery (interstate from the wreakers. I just happened to be there when a totaled 2001 came in). My winter car car didn't make it past February so I had to get something quick. I picked up an 88 Mazda pickup, runs great but I have to figure out why it gets such poor gas milage for a four banger.
All in all I guess the cld weather effects the owner a lot more than than my f100. Iam sure enjoying working outside more now than I have the last 3 months.
