I was poking around under the dash the other day and noticed the trailer brake was plugged in to a fancy little add on plug under there (I did not do a lot of the upgrades on this truck) but then I also noticed some cut wires coming out of one of the trucks wire harness very near by and in the same colors as the wires of the brake controller. I did tape the ends off for safety but know I am wondering why there is a set of color coded wires and a plug (that it is attached to) with total different wires.
If I remember those are dead ended pass through wires. They just go through the firewall its for running other electronics like aftermarket body builders do.
Yeah I just have not found the other end of those wire (in the cab) but there are a lot of other wires that aren't plugged in. Any one know where to fine a FREE wiring diagram?
Basically, on that old of truck, there are 4 wires under the dash that go through the firewall to the engine compartment. You can use them for anything you want. There should also be the trailer brake connector, which you already know about, and the Auxiliary PCM connector. The APCM lets you get PTO and high idle functions.
I'm not sure on any other not connected wires on that old of a truck.
