Proper install of shock bushings

I recently put on a new set of rear shocks with urethane bushings and just crammed them in there and pretty much let the road get hem center and working in right, I could not figure out how else to do it. But I just saw something about greasing them. So the question is do they need to be greased for proper work and life span? ( does not seam right to me) or is that just an aid to get them together?

I just put new skyjackers on the rear of mine, and I used a little liquidwrench to get the bushings to set. I dont think the bushings require any lube after that.
