Integrated Brake Controller

Went and hooked up our TT to our NTU 2009 Ford f-250 with the integrated brake controller and the display showed not connected. Turned truck off and restarted and still not connected display. Turned on blinker and blinkers working on the camper. I checked both fuses(inside of cab and under hood) and they both appeared fine. Any ideas before a trip to the dealer. Fortuntately I have about 1500 miles before hitting 36k. tks

Did you try hitting the brake petal or just the button on the dash? Do the brakes work on the trailer when hooked to another vehicle? Have you ever hooked up to it with this truck? If so, when was the last time? Did you notice anything unusual last time?

I towed the TT all summer with our 2003 Ford Expedition and used a Tekonsha prodigy. No issues. Sold the expedition and bought the truck 2 weeks ago. Hooked up TT Friday and display kept saying not connected. Pulled plug out of hitch and re-inserted and still nothing. I def. did not have brakes on the TT.

Well since the turn signals work, my guess would be dirty or corroded contacts in the coupler for the other functions. Have you taken a look at that yet?

Could be a loose wire that activates the trailer brakes, since your trailer lights/turn signals work. Try looking at the plug on your trailer first ( circuit tester ), then the plug on your truck. I dont think it's the intergrated trailer itself! Good luck.

Which pin was the "brakes" on your Expedition?

Same as the F250?

There is more than one way to wire up a 7 pin

for instance, if you put the vehicle in reverse, and it activates the brakes, that means that the trailer is using the center pin as the brakes while the truck is not.

Any chance its an air over hydraulic brake system, or is it electric over hydraulic? Either way if it's one of those I have read that the integrated system doesn't work until you get the 2011. I only know this because that was one of the features I read about somewhere before I bought my 11.

2006 F250....Checked every fuse that had to do with the brakes and brake controller, all good, Checked all connections where aftermarket 7 pin was installed in truck bed, blinkers ok, lights ok, flashers ok, brake lights ok, power to electric brakes not there. Connected truck to trailer, everything checked out except electric brake power. Test Drive.....brake controller activated with slide control will stop trailer on a dime....step on the brake pedal...no trailer brakes. Looked at wiring under dash seems ok, no loose connections, unplugged connectors, etc. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.

It sounds like that there no signal from the brake light switch to the trailer break controller. If is works ok with the manual slide, the controller is good. It just doesn't know that the brake has been applied. I have gotten a "Trailer Fault" message several times when the connector came loose in the truck bed. I believe that it senses the 12v brake circuit for this code.
