Hey all, I usually hang out in the big bronco forums but need info on my ranger.
My truck is a 92 ranger that has the 4 cylinder with the 5spd tranny. I can't hardly drive it anymore cause the clutch hydralic fluid leaks out and I think the slave cylinder is leaking. I have to pump the clutch pedal alot just to get it in gear and even then it leaks down real fast.
My question is how hard is it to replace the slave cylinder. Is it indide the bell housing, If so, can I push the tranny back a little bit to get inside the bell housing or do I have to pull the tranny out completely? Thanks for any info.
Tranny's gotta come out, since the cylinder rides on the trans input shaft, right behind the throwout bearing. Some people on this board have had fun & games getting the hose off the quick-connect. I haven't, but my pickup's older.
Have you checked he mastercyl? They also fail and many seem to forget about them. If not leaking out side the cab, check under the carpet/floor mats for a leak to the inside of the cab.
the slave cylinder is a comon problem on the m5od and you do have to remove the tranny to replace it it costs like 85 dollars i sujest you replace the clutch presure plate exsedra good luck its a fun project
Yeah, with the cold weather, my friends just went on him also.
Was not hard to change at all.. But I talked him into doing a full clutch and all while he was at it. I just didn't see the sense in doing just one when the truck has over 80,000 on it...
