Tires
What tires are you guys having good experiences with
(wear, traction, performance, etc...)?
I'm looking to pick up a set of all season tires soon.
I'm leaning towards Goodyear, but like what
I see with General and Yokohama as well.

I have BFGs All Terrain M/Ts on my wife's 'Sploder. Great traction in rain, mud and snow but just a bit loud.
I'm thinking about the Definity Dakotas from Pep Boys due to the rave reviews from many off roaders. The price is good and the warrantee is for 50,000 miles. The buy 3 get 1 free deal don't hurt either.
Also they are made in the USA by Cooper.

I have been looking at the nitto terra grappler for snow traction in the upcoming winter months. I have always liked the BFG a/t's but they are so dang expensive. Check out the tire rack website for tire reviews they can be very informative. Currently running uniroyal laredo cross country that do well for my needs (they were almost new when i bought my expy)

Took a look at those Dakotas. Lot's to like about them.
They seem to be worth consideration for the money.

Nittos are also on my list.
Thanks for all the suggestions.
So far, I've found that the max budget I have would up to $800.
The PepBoy Dakotas seem to be an incredible "value" at 1/2 the cost.
Because I just had the front end done to my Ex, I wanted to be sure
that it was done right before I drop 8 Big Ones on a set of tires,
so I decided to go with an entry-level set.
On top of that, there's a Pep Boys like 3 minutes from my place.
So, convenience & an unknown front end job (done by previous owner) lead me to the Dakotas.
Plus, I've read good things about them and they're supposedly made by Cooper
so that gives me a sense of security that I'll be getting a decent product.
And at $392. for a set of four (OEM size) installed and balanced with a solid warranty, what's "not" to like?
If they seem to wear evenly, then I'll upgrade to a more expensive set in the Spring.
I'll take the Dakotas and slap them on my work truck after that.
I'll let you guys know how they perform.
Again, thanks for all the suggestions and I'll keep researching the premium rubber.

I found it on their site:

I'll definitely invest in that. Sounds like a good deal.
Thanks.

Your initial post said you were looking for an "all-season" tire. Did you mean an "all-terrain" instead? If you're considering an all-season, take a look at the Uniroyal Laredo Cross Country. I have them on my Expy and am very happy. Excellent wet & dry weather handling and not bad in the snow, either. If you're after an all-terrain at a decent price, along with the Dakotas from Pep Boys, take a look at the Kelly Springfield line of SUV & truck tires. They have some semi-aggressive to VERY aggressive tires, and for a very nice price. I had been running their Safari AWR, but they discontinued it. That was, hands down, the best all-terrain tire I have ever used.

I've had 4 types on my Expy's - in chronological order
OEM Conti's (both trucks) - crappy grip, good wear
Michelin LTX's ('03)- excellent all around
BFG Long Trails (both trucks) - crappy grip, poor wear
Michelin Cross Terrains ('03) - excellent all around
You get what you pay for. I broke my "Michelins only" rule on the BFG's and was sorry for it. Sadly they will be on the '04 for a long long time because it doesn't go very far from home.
