2005 Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer 5.4L V8. For the past few months I have been dealing with a radio issue that has gotten my last nerve. I have read several posts, and while some issues sound similar to mine, I (and 3 mehcanics) still have no solution. When I turn the vehicle off and take the keys out of the ignition, all of the accessories continue to work as normal. But when I open the door, THEY STILL CONTINUE TO WORK. All of the mechanics have checked the normal boxes, fuses, and switches, but none have given me more than, "Uh, yeah, you've got a problem." Where do I check now? I have replaced the accessory delay relay, checked all of the fuses and fuse box for water. I have soaked the door switches with WD40 (My dome lights work normal always). I called my local dealership and they told me that the GEM module is possibly next the radio. Before I start taking the dash apart, does anyone have any suggestions on the exact location and if this is even a DIY type of job. I cant even find this part anywhere online and the dealer is like talking to tree. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I believe the GEM is located very near the fuse panel, at least it is on my truck. Take a look in the F-150 and larger forums as there are lots of posts about the GEM and fuse panels there.
I would check the ignition switch first though.
Hey guys, thanks for the quick response. Well, I checked behind the fuse box and I cannot seem to find it. I found two other boxes and when I called in the part numbers they told me one was the a/c controls and the other was the security controls box. If I pull out the accessory delay everything shuts down, I put it back in and everything goes back to normal...well as normal as possible.
My 1999 has GEM problems I caused by a leaky windshield a few years ago. I lose auto four wheel drive every summer and every fall have to reset the GEM module. I was told by the FORD dealer to just disconnect the neg battery terminal for 20-30 min., then reconnect. When you turn your key on for the first time after resetting all of the needles on the instrument panel will go full sweep then back to zero again. That how I can tell it has been reset. After that all of the accessories work fine again. FORD said they won't just replace the GEM module. The service bulletin says to replace the windshield, fuse panel, GEM, and under dash wiring harness due to corrosion from leaking windshields. Cost estimate was nearly 2500 bucks and they would only do it that way. A local shop I have used said the Dodge GEMs can be programmed at the dealership and then installed in their shop. Apparently FORD won't do that.
