Nice find, but I would be upset if I found it my own and then lost it because someone tipped everyone off about it. Not trying to bust your chops or anything, but i'm sure someone on here already had a beat on it.
i see nothing wrong with sharing finds on here. other forums i'm on have a continuing thread of craigslist and ebay finds that members update regularly. helping one another in our little online community is a lot more comendable then always looking out for presumed numero uno.
I agree with that 100% for everything else, but I think Ebay should be every man for himself. Imagine finding something everybody else missed, and then losing it because someone tipped off everyone. You can't really have a co-op with an auction system. Again, nothing personal just my opinion having lost a few things this way over the years.
Lol....I had the same idea but I wasn't gonna say it. Anyways, i'll never win this argument so i'll back down gracefully. I guess I still have issues about losing those signal mirrors for the Bronco to someone on here a few years ago......lol.
Ebay has always been about who has the most money. If you don't have the most money, then you don't get the part. It sucks when you lose the part, but that's life. I had so many Ranger Lariat radio bezels slip through my hands.
But there's one sitting in my truck right now that is 6 times as nice as all the other ones I came across. If you want something bad enough, it'll eventually come to you.
I saw an 80-86 Bronco once on Ebay that had the very rare Power Mirrors. Truck was set to be scrapped unless somebody made a bid. Well, by the time the auction closed, no visible bids. If I had posted it on here, then maybe someone here would have picked up the truck, and there would be another surviving set of power mirrors.
I found them listed under the wrong name or something, and no one else had discovered them yet. I spent nearly two years trying to find a pair of the signal mirrors for the 92-96 broncos that were in my price range. Two hours before the auction ended someone who had no interest in them theirself posted their location and a link to them. I could have had them both for 50 bucks, but they drove it up to 350ish and I lost them. Then I had to listen to his write up about how much he enjoyed them (he didn't know I was involved though). I checked everyday before and after work, and during my lunch break for two years, and someone with bigger pockets did nothing and got em from me.
There's another set of signal mirrors sitting somewhere right now with your name on them, you just have to be in the right place at the right time.
I found my Ranger Lariat radio bezel while browsing truck cabs on Ebay. The bezel wasn't even listed. I saw that the truck had Ranger emblems, but it didn't have the Lariat emblem on the cab. I almost clicked out of the ad, but I decided to click the other picture. Lo and behold on the other side was a Lariat emblem. Emailed the seller, and the truck still had the bezel, worked out a deal, and now it's in my truck. I've looked for that bezel since March.
I have been an Ebay buyer and seller for years. I bought and sold old Honda dirt bikes and parts. If you are looking to buy an item the lower the number of potential buyers the better. Of course if you are selling an item ....let everyone know . I know that sucks but when you are looking for parts for 30+ year old vehicles you should probably keeps your lips sealed if you want to win it. Also, use a service such as e-snipe to place your bid. Decide the max you are willing to pay for the item , enter the info for the bid and don't look at it anymore till the auction is over. Also, look for auctions that have been listed incorrectly. For example, look for brake parts under "break". 1968-72 F150-F250 Power Break Booster w/MasterCylinder: eBay Motors (item 190246499890 end time Nov-11-10 10:03:51 PST)
One more thing. A lot of items on Ebay can be found cheaper at other places such as Amazon, RockAuto, etc.

Reason: added info
I am the OP. I was sharing with what I believe to be "brothers" in our forum, the location of a piece that has been sought by others in the recent past. I thought what I was doing would be helpful. I am not the seller.
NumberDummy,
Thank you for your response and clarification. Your input is always appreciated... that is why I listed the Ford part number.
And for the fellow members who were disappointed with my listed information, I sincerely apologize.

my post was not to have malicious intent. i was simply trying to point out another possibility. I've never priced a new pad so I don't know/care if it was a good value or not.
You don't need to apologize. As long as you are within forum rules post whatever you want. It is a public forum. Everyone is not going to agree with you no matter what you do.
i understand we have 30 year old trucks and parts are getting hard to find... but i agree with where 1986F150six was coming from. how many times have folks on here been looking for parts and members have kept an eye out on junkyard excursions? what's the difference with sharing ebay items or craigslist ads? the stuff is out there, but finding it is often the hard part. the great thing is we have a HUGE network of people on here with a common passion and helping one another out shouldn't be frowned upon.
