You'll need a new converter and an update to the transmission. You dont need a rebuild, but depending on the mileage, a lot of people will tell you to do it since you have it out. I dont quite remember what all the reprogramming kit has, but it fixes the root of the converter problem, which is inside the transmission.

I got a rebuilt Dayco unit for right at $165. This is a stock converter for the 5.0 gasser. As for the reprogramming kit, I dont remember what they wanted for it, but I know that some shop wanted I think $500 for parts and labor if I brought the transmission to them. This included a converter and everything to fix it. Call a local shop, If they've been around for a while this is probably something they have delt with before and can give you a pretty accurate estimate.
