c6 question

hey guys,

quick transmission question; been searching on the site and just wanted to double check;

i have a 77 f100 with a 351m. the tranny behind it has a 14 bolt pan; does this make it the cruiseomatic?

also found a c6 for sale locally; owner said it came from a 6.9 diesel ambulance; any chance this would fit my truck?

14 bolts is an FMX (cruise-o-matic) not a C6.
No the diesel trans won't fit.

I believe the 6.9 diesel tranny has an enitirely different bellhousing pattern. The 351M/400 will share with the 429/460 pattern.

thanks guys. am i right in saying that you'd probably rather have the c6 than the cruiseomatic if i could find one that fit?

Yes, way more aftermarket support for the C6.
