First time poster needing a little help. 1990 Ford F250 horn does not work. Replaced the horn because it was bad and it still did not work. Checked voltage at the horn and I'm getting 11.6 so I replaced the horn relay, still no good. So I am at a loss, wondering if there is a ground somewhere I need to check.
If your getting power to the horn and it still doesn't work, then I would say the horn is no good. Try running a wire directly off of the battery to the horn and see if it works.
Ok, I don't know much about this but the package says this horn does not require a ground. Even tells you to hook it up before you install it to test it. I have had it hooked up not installed and grounded, not grounded and it does not work. Installed and does not work.
I guess I missed that part about it being tested. Have you tried cleaning the inside of the connectors that it plugs into? That often works. You can get electronic terminal/connector cleaner in a spary can at most auto stores.
If you have power going into the horn, and the horn works separately, it has to be a ground problem. A horn is a simple electric motor. Needs power and ground. Since you say it has no ground, it must ground to where it bolts to the vehicle. Make sure it's bolted to a solid piece of metal. You may need to scrape off a little paint to get proper contact. It should also have some type of star washer incorperated into one of the bolt holes, if it in fact has no ground wire.
