It is, if you like ice, snow and barren rock. In early spring the snow melts and everything turns green for about 2-3 weeks then turns brown. It does have a kind of stark beauty. Any road not paved turns into muddy ruts. Years ago the EPA kept them from paving any roads due to the possibility of petroleum byproducts leaching into the surrounding waters. I don't know if they resolved the leaching issues or if mother nature took a back seat to progress.

 

I am an engineer on a fishing boat. Specifically a longliner. I am on the F/V Frontier Mariner where we primarily target Pacific Cod.
I am not on the Deadliest Catch but know alot of the people on there. Sorry, no celeb status here! haha

 

Well at least we won't have any paparazzi popping up.

Hey that's still pretty dang cool.

A stark beauty is still nice. The serene quietness and fresh air. Down here in Washington there are a lot of areas with great forest views. On the eastern side of the mountains is the desert style scene where you have shear cliffs with awesome views.
