After converting my 51 to 12 volt I am finding that the parking light bulbs will not fit in behind the lens. Is there a different, smaller dual filament bulb that will? They will be turn signals as well.
You should be using an 1156 or 1157 light bulb. My truck is still 6 volts, but I converted the parking lights into dual filaments for the turn signals. I'm using an 1156 (I think) 6v bolt, which is the same size as yours, likely, and have no fit problems with the lens.
There are two different types of bulbs. One type has the step-down knubs on the side and the other bulb has the knubs at the same level. Both types, however, should be fitting in the same distance inside the respective socket.
EDIT: Did you change out the complete socket assembly or just the contacts inside the socket?
If you changed out the sockets, then they may not be sitting in deep enough like Old F1 states. If you simply replaced the contacts inside the existing sockets, then you shouldn't have a problem with the bulb fitting inside the lens.
Hum, if you are looking for the same size (small) as a 12 volt # 67 or is it # 68, (?) like the original single element park light bulb in a double contact I don’t know that there is one. There are some small bulb double contact (used in dome lights), but not with the off set index that a double filament bulb uses. You must have changed the socket to facilitate the off set index double contact bulb, (or where they already double contact) ? I think you might have to recess the socket further back in the lamp. Or someone with real knowledge will know, a LED might also be a solution
This is a chart that I saved of the net but is not really applicable for you unless you are **** like me and surf the net until you find a bulb buyers guide with all the dimensions.
(sure miss my parts store some days, or better yet should have keep a set of catalogues)
Common Part # and Cross Reference #'s
I was looking for some LED turn signal bulbs and found this chart (that I couldn’t get to copy correctly, so litigate me).
**Use Special 3157-SRCK bulbs to replace the tail lights on 04-07 Dodge Ram trucks, center tail tamp bulbs on 88-99 (Old Body Style) Chevy, GMC full size trucks & SUVs (Use the Regular 3157 bulb for the top tail lamp bulbs), 95-01 Cavalier and Sunfire,& 92-98 Grand Am tail lamp bulbs
Use 3157-SACK bulbs for front turn signals on the Toyota Tundra.
If you install regular LED bulbs and keep blowing fuses you probably need these bulbs.
3156 3456 4156 *3157 bulbs will work in all 3156 applications.

If you changed the sockets, then, as Ilya pointed out, you have to set the new, base grounded sockets deeper into the light housing. Otherwise any bulb you use that is made for parking signal lights will touch and burn the lens.
To my knowledge there are no "shorter" bulbs that will fit those sockets and not touch.
It may be distasteful, but consider using amber LED bulbs....
DISTASTEFUL!!!…………….that would be absolutely gorgeous, beautiful, stunning, fantastic, ……………I know, you never would have guessed, but I’m doing amber lens with LED bulbs wired so park lights are on with headlights! Darkside rules!
It may be distasteful, but consider using amber LED bulbs.... much shorter, no heat. Would need an electronic flasher to go with it.

(Yes Julie, good idea on the socket, Ilya).
I LIKE the LED idea up there, Ross! Good one!
BTW if you simply replace the inside of the socket to handle a double filimant light, you may run into the offset pin problem with the double filliment lights and the old socket.
