Truck will not start it turns over for a second and will not stay running. I checked to see if I have fire and it's getting that and I can move the throttle and see gas squirting in the carb. Any help i sure don't won't to stay here all night.
try holding the ignition key in different directions while trying to start it. sometimes with a bad switch that will get you started. sometime jiggling the key works also
Try a new voltage reg., the rectangular flatish thing mounted behind the starting selenoid towards the cab. One of mine went in the way you have descibed.
I got in contact with my dad and he is going to come by and take a look at it, He knows alot more about it than I do. I will run the Voltage regulator by him. Is there any thing I can test before he get here.
Try pulling the plug again and watch it once it does it's "almost runs" thing. If it's dark outside (if not find a helper to turn the key)this will show if your losing the spark as soon as you release the key/starter to the "run" position. That's how if found out mine was the culprit. Usual checks under the cap to make sure nothin' is amiss. Pull the fuel line after the filter and check for flow (carefully please!). Sorry I don't have more for ya.
Well this is what I found out, my fuel filter had a leak and the carb was not getting enough gas. I hope I have it fixed now. It did good this morning.
